University Day, first held May 10, 1961, marks the day North Texas State College became North Texas State University. It is an annual event where we celebrate our university status with free food, activities and music.
Campus departments, student organizations, and local vendors will be on hand to distribute information and giveaways. A picnic lunch will be served and is free with current UNT Faculty, Staff or Student ID card.
For the sixth year, the annual Flag Parade will precede University Day. The parade starts at 11 a.m. at Marquis Hall and ends on the Union North Green. The official University Day ceremony will start at 11:30 a.m., which includes a welcome by Vice President for Student Affairs, Dr. Elizabeth With; a historical proclamation by the Mayor of Denton, pronouncing the college a university; and music by the pep band.
After the ceremony, attendees will be able to enjoy music provided by DJ QuestionMark.
In the event of rain, University Day will be held in the University Union.Location: The Union North Lawn between Sycamore and SageEvent open to: UNT communityTicket Price: With a Student IDDepartment or Sponsor: Student ActivitiesContact Name: Student ActivitiesContact Email: Student.Activities@unt.eduContact Phone: 940-565-3807Expected Attendance: Over 500Top
