The RED Program at Texas Health Presbyterian-Dallas
Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas is hosting the Reality Education for Drivers—RED—Program for young drivers (14-25 years old) and their parents or guardians.* This free one day course focuses on driving SECURE (wear your seatbelt!), SILENT (free of distractions like cell phones) and SOBER (no alcohol or drug use while driving). The course includes class discussions, multimedia presentations, hands on activities, and a “behind the scenes” tour of the hospital’s trauma center. There is also a special section for parents, guardians, and other adult influencers in which RED associates share research-based tools that can be used to help teens become safer drivers. All students will receive a Certificate of Completion for community service hours** at the end of the course. Adults will receive a bag of “tools” for helping their young driver. Here's a link to a campus map of TH Presbyterian-Dallas: https://www.texashealth.org/dallas/Documents/System/Maps/THD_Campus_Map.pdf Our class will be held in the Physician Conference Room on the first floor of the main hospital. Guest parking lots #1 and #3 are good for guests to park in. The Walnut Hill Train Station (Red Line) is located west of the Main entrance. It is on a raised platform and track. Please be aware that parking will cost you up to $5.00. DIRECTIONS TO PHYSICIAN'S CONFERENCE ROOM: Once you enter the Main Tower, turn left before the elevators. As you walk, you will pass Café Presby on your right. Walk past the café, and turn right down the first hallway. The first classroom on your right is the Physician’s Conference room. This is where your class will be held. There will be signs to direct your way. Note: if you find yourself starting down the skybridge, you have gone too far. A DART rail day pass costs $5.00 for unlimited train and bus rides from time of purchase until 0300 the following morning. The DART GoPass can be downloaded onto an Apple or Android phone. Riders can buy rail and bus passes directly on their phone. Please dress as if you were going to school or work. No shorts or clothing with alcohol, drug, or violence references and closed toe shoes. It can be cold in the Conference Room so you may want to bring a sweater or long sleeves.
