NEC's SSS Proposal Writing Workshop in Fort Worth, TX on May 31 & June 1, 2019

The NOSOTROS Education Center (NEC) will conduct a Student Support Services (SSS) Proposal Writing Workshop (PWW) at the Dee J. Kelly Alumni & Visitors Center located on the campus of Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas on Friday, May 31 and Saturday, June 1, 2019 (9am to 4pm on both days). This workshop will provide the following instruction and practical skills necessary for developing successful proposals:  Methods to collect and assess the required data to demonstrate a “Need” for funding; ​​Development of an appropriate Budget and Personnel Structure that adequately corresponds with an effective yet realistic Plan of Operation; ​​Setting performance Objectives that are ambitious yet attainable; and ​​Creation of a comprehensive yet relevant Evaluation Plan. This 2-day SSS PWW is ideal for both beginning and experienced grant writers.  Workshop Presenter: Elizabeth "Lisa" Retamozo, Executive Director, NEC Ms. Retamozo has over twenty-five years of experience in the implementation, management, supervision, and evaluation of federal (TRIO) and state-funded educational and career opportunity programs. Lisa has a very successful record of securing over $230 million for new and continuation TRIO (TS, SSS, UB, UBMS, McNair, EOC) and Gear Up grant proposals for colleges, universities, and non-profit agencies. Workshop Presenter: Dr. Mary Gonzalez, Lead Consultant, NEC  Dr. Gonzalez has over 29 years of direct working experience with TRIO programs' acquisition, implementation, and training via the Department of Education training grants. Dr. Gonzalez oversaw Texas A&M University-Kingsville (TAMUK)’s Office of Student Access (OSA), which houses 11 projects funded through the U.S. Department of Education, including Upward Bound, Upward Bound Math and Science, Educational Opportunity Center, Ronald E. McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievement Program, Student Support Services (Regular and STEM), and Talent Search. Since 2002, Mary has been successful in bringing over $61 million in federally funded grants for the university. FAQs What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event? Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) is 25 miles from TCU. Shuttle, train, taxicab and car rental services are available at the terminal. Love Field (DAL) is 35 miles from TCU. From 360 follow signs to I-30 West to Fort Worth. Travel through to Fort Worth (past Six Flags and the Ballpark). Travel through downtown and exit University Drive South. TCU is 2 miles from the Interstate. From the north or south, take I-35 West to I-30 West. Travel through downtown and exit University Drive South. TCU is 2 miles from the Interstate. From the west or east, exit I-30 to University Drive South. The campus is about 2 miles from the Interstate. Free parking is available in the Dee J.
